Microblogging is publishing short, frequent text posts to a public feed — the format defined by X and now shared by Bluesky, Mastodon and Threads. Posts are brief by design, which lowers the cost of posting often and rewards a steady stream over polished set pieces.
It's a fast, conversational medium, so the unit of depth is the thread: chain several posts when one won't fit. With Bluesky and Mastodon now running on open fediverse protocols, microblogging is also where the build-in-public crowd tends to congregate.
