Shadowban

When a platform quietly limits a post or account's distribution without telling you — your reach drops but nothing looks wrong.

A shadowban is suppression you can't see: the algorithm stops surfacing your content in feeds, search, or hashtags, but your posts still appear normal to you. Reach quietly collapses with no notification and no obvious cause.

Platforms rarely confirm shadowbans, but they're usually triggered by behaviour that looks spammy or low-quality — banned hashtags, repetitive posting, or obvious engagement bait. The fix is mundane: stop the flagged behaviour, post genuinely useful content, and wait it out.
