Conversion rate
The percentage of people who completed a desired action — signup, purchase, subscribe — after engaging.
Conversion rate is the share of people who took the action you actually care about — signing up, buying, subscribing — out of those who had the chance to. On social it's the metric closest to revenue, and the one vanity metrics distract from.
Tracking it across the gap between social and your product requires attribution — typically UTM parameters on every link so a signup can be traced back to the post that drove it.
